MissChivers = one half of HelixTWO production duo, one fifth of Femmes Fatales, one tenth of Uptight! DJs and one helova vinyl and breaks fanatic.
Yvette Chivers, AKA "MissChivers", has been the spearheading part of Uptight! DJs for the past six years, keeping the funk to breaks sound running within the now 10 strong collective. A mix of hip hop licks, funk bass lines, soul vocals and of course, those infectious break beats, disco and house classics is just what the MissChivers crowd get off on. Having collected Motown records since the age of 15, it is no surprise where the influence has come from.
Having played a vast array of venues since 2005 for a eclectic range of promoters and venues, from the Junction to Ministry Of Sound, Birmingham to Berlin, and an array of festivals (last year making her 3rd consecutive appearance at Secret Garden Party, plus Fordham Fest, Pink Festival and Wormfood), the booty-swinging get up and dance attitude has one known outcome - to keep everyone on the dance-floor. From chill to deep house, from funk to party classics, her tune selection cannot be faltered.
Other pies where her fingers are tapped into include;
• Running NE-Xcuse, pronounced "any excuse" (marketing and promotions for anything music related as well as a record label of the same name, with a publishing arm soon to follow).
• Femmes Fatales (female DJ group ranging from funk through to disco, breaks, electro, house and tech).
• B-Side Project (launched September 2010 International music project which sees bands and solo artists remixed by dance music producers).
• Eventually overcoming the techno-phobia by getting stuck into music production herself, forming one half of production duo "HelixTWO"
