Mystery writer & amateur detective.
Since 2014 Murder He Wrote’s unique take on UK bass music has found home on a myriad of labels. From his debut EP on the legendary Skint Records to remixes for the Stanton Warriors on Skrillex’s NEST imprint to finally landing at his current home of Roska Kicks & Snares. A magpie approach to production, twisting elements of Garage, Hip-Hop, Dancehall & Drum & Bass into his own off key take on UK Funky, it’s no surprise the hybrid nature of his sound has garnered support across a diverse range of dance music’s A-list.
2016’s two singles for Roska Kicks & Snares featured in the sets of Redlight, Shadow Child, DJ Q and many more and led to numerous guest mixes on BBC Radio 1 & 1Xtra – culminating in a set recorded live from Maida Vale studios after MHW was picked as one of Toddla T’s Freshman 2017 alongside the likes of AJ Tracey and Nadia Rose. Other notable moments included debut performances at Glastonbury Festival and Ministry Of Sound, an appearance in DJ Zinc’s essential mix and multiple tastemakers naming him as one of 2017’s ones to watch including 1Xtra’s Jamz Supernova.
Entering 2017 Murder He Wrote shows no sign of slowing down with an increasingly busy UK gigging schedule (including a debut show for Fabriclive), a Canadian tour and a 6 track EP for Roska Kicks & Snares slated to drop late April – all whilst maintaing his prolific remix output.
DJ Mag – “stands head and shoulders above just about anyone on the scene right now”
Zinc – “If I think about acts that make me go ‘Fucking hell that’s good!’ today then it’s Murder He Wrote, Archive, Chriz Lorenzo, My Nu Leng… those guys are making incredible music.”
