Former Backdrop and Slink Radio Co-Founder, resident DJ, and last at the party. North East England via Hong Kong. A passion for raving and hunting down esoteric, heavy, trippy wax. Reality can feel tough; music helps.
Simon’s passion for music was a delayed one, with a true love of electronic music not arriving until the age of 22. Despite this late start, years of hard digging later, and with an unbridled passion for wax purism driving and inspiring the search for unique and trippy music, it doesn’t feel like any ground has been lost.
Former co-founder and resident of Backdrop, a wild techno party known for 'weeding out the part-timers', as well as former co-founder and director of Slink Radio, a community project based in Newcastle that aimed to unite the various disparate scenes of the city under one banner (now laid to one side awaiting a community revival). Simon now runs Throb, alongside Bad Luck Ginger (Buhl) and Daughters, both of whom are Kaneda Records head honchos. Throb is a party that looks to emerging local talent, and lesser-used spaces of the already over-crowded Newcastle scene, and focuses purely on the party - seeing bookings as a complement to a party, not the basis for one.
