Beware of cheap imitations is the word from The Ultra Music Festival as it return’s to its spiritual home at Bicentennial Park in downtown Miami for the 8th edition of this now famous event. With more events than ever before taking place during the Miami March festivities, this showcase will take place on Saturday March 25 book-ended by the official Winter Music Conference dates. Regarded in America as the premier ‘dance’ festival of its kind the event continues to widen its booking policy to attract a range of punters with a handful of recent additions not necessarily synonymous with dance music, but offering something different for the tens of thousands of punters expected to attend.
Adding alternative flavour to the line-up are Hot Hot Heat. Originally formed in 1999 in Victoria B.C. the indie synth band turned heads last year when they toured with Weezer and the Foo Fighters. West London group Hard-Fi, whose album ‘Stars of CCTV’ earned them two Brit nominations also showcase their sounds on the day that will have most people running from stage to stage in a bid to catch all the action.
Minimal techno genius Richie Hawtin, fresh from his duty as composer and producer of the Torino Olympic Games’ Opening Ceremony on February 10th has recently been added to the line-up.
