Theophilus London, Wild Yaks, a good one with a new album out to be announced soon
Brooklyn isn't always the safest place to be mixing rap with the songwriting sensibilities of The Smiths. Throwing caution and just about any kind of classification to the wind is Theophilus London, harbinger of tomorrow’s sound, or what the youth are calling “that new new ish.” With production primarily by electro savant Machinedrum, London’s dance-floor oriented tracks are textured and rhythmically nuanced. This Charming Mixtape laid the hype for the upcoming This Charming Man LP, which promises to shift the landscape of urban music.

Somewhere between Drink Up Buttercup and King Khan is Wild Yaks, the bombastic garage punk outfit with spastic guitars, soulful barroom vocals, pummeling drums and the occasional wailing saxophone. Prime up those eardrums for a sexy, sloppy, tipsy good time.
