Following two years of completely sold out events the South West Four festival returns on Saturday 26th August 2006 to Clapham Common as part of this summer’s Metro Weekender bringing you the hottest, dare we DEFINITIVE who’s who of DJs in dance music today to make sure this year’s events rocks like never before!
Set over three MASSIVE arenas and featuring many weekend exclusives, this year’s event sees the South West Four festival shift up a gear to being what can only be London’s biggest outdoor dance event of 2006. The Metro Weekender is a combination of the Get Loaded in The Park and South West Four festivals and for the first time sees us join forces and offers you joint weekend tickets for both events. As if this wasn’t enough we’ll be mirroring this summers Metro Weekender in Cardiff offering 30,000 music fans the chance to enjoy a similar event!
Last year’s festival featured the world heavyweight DJ combination of Sasha, Digweed, Cox headlining. This year we welcome back Digweed and Cox and also to our main stage invite two if the undisputable BIGGEST names in dance music Pete Tong & Paul Oakenfold, with many more quality DJs and live acts to mention, here’s a breakdown of this summer’s event:
This summer’s 10,000 capacity Main Stage Outdoor Arena will play host to the legendary Carl Cox & Friends! Carl enjoyed last summer’s event so much he asked to return to headline 2006! Joining Carl will be the man responsible for kick-starting club culture in the UK Paul Oakenfold alongside Bedrock main man John Digweed, recent winner of the best European DJ at this year’s Winter Music Conference Sander Kleinenberg (live!) breakbeat heroes Stanton Warriors, James Zabiela (also returning fort his second year) and hot new DJ talent Desyn Masiello!
Arena Two Essential London in association with Dig Deeper, Harlem Nights and Type’ will be hosted by one of the most influential men in dance music today Pete Tong. Pete’s Friday night ‘Essential Selection’ on Radio 1 is the definitive guide to what’s hot in dance music and has been broadcasting every week since 1991! Joining Pete will be Harlem Nights boss Steve Lawler, ex Radio 1 and Type promoter Seb Fontaine, Danny Howells, No.1 dance act The Shapeshifters who will be performing Live (UK Exclusive!) and Nic Fanciulli.
Arena Three hosted by London’s leading club events HeatUK, Serious and The Gallery ups the tempo (only slightly this year!) featuring Radio 1 DJ and boss of the Serious World empire Judge Jules, Italian techno legend that is Mauro Picotto, our third Radio 1 DJ Fergie alongside Gallery resident Tall Paul plus the UK’s leading Trance DJs Ian Betts and Matt Hardwick plus fast rising Dutch tech trance superstar Sander Van Doorn.
Arena Four Ibizan Underground will be held in association with South London’s favourite afternoon house party PUSH, Clapham's favourite DJ Bar The White House and Ibiza’s leading online resource www.Ibiza-voice.com. It will play host to some of the biggest movers and shakers from the legendary white isle. The End's pioneering owner Mr C headlines, together with the queen of Ibiza Smokin Jo and Mr Very Very Very Wrong himself Tim Sheridan. Ibiza's most notorious Monday club residents Jo Mills and Clive Henry from DC10 will also jet into the capital alongside the summer sounds of Dusted resident Oliver Lang.
All this and we haven’t even mentioned the after party!
