Dubscover 004 is only around the corner, and they are @ Gramaphone, for another completely FREE party! Get ready for some big, fat & heavy low frequencies from a selection of the finest fresh and undiscovered artists in Dubstep!
First up they have Nottingham based Goli & Ashburner, who run the digital (soon to be vinyl) label ‘For The Win Records’. In just over a year they have had five releases, and are planning their first vinyl release for early 2010. They also run a successful night called ‘For The Win’ in Nottingham, which has seen artists such as Goth Trad, Benny Page and Jakes drop by in only their first three dances. With the ‘For The Win’ brand branching out into Leeds, Manchester, Bristol and Leicester over the next two months, and also dates for these two across the country up until February next year, these boys are definately on the way up!
Next up is Slugz & Boyson, who burst onto the Dubstep scene in September 2008. Solo at first, later becoming a duo after a few back to back shows. Slugz & Boyson have hyped crowds with their technical 3 Deck sets at Clubs such as The End (The Den), Matter, Ministry of Sound, The Coronet Theatre, Fire, Area, SE1 + Many More. Slugz & Boyson currently have a residents at Some, Swagger, Live & Direct, Pack Dubs, Vagabondz, & Outlook Festival (Croatia). Boyson has just had first release on the Dub and Rub label with his track titled 'Loneliness'.
They also have huge support from Dubscover 003 Winner IL-V aka Ben McIlveen, from Clapham, South London. Ben, who is one of the ‘Altar’ residents/promoters, started out as a Jungle DJ, and didn’t really follow Dubstep. However, after listening to artists like; Martyn, Jus Wan, Ramadanman, Untold, to name a few, he was influenced to collect and DJ more Dubstep. IL-V likes to play music that stands out above similar sounding throw away tunes that proliferates both the Dubstep and Jungle scenes... Expect good music, and flawless mixing!!!
Last but not least they have Italian/London based duo Dropfellas, who organise the successful night ‘Darkside Of London’. Expect to hear an experimental attitude to Dubstep, with them combining all their past musical experiences from hip hop to drum'n'bass, to soundscape futuristic bass music!
At every event each artist has 1 hour to perform, and a further 20 minutes to help you to decide who is the best! All you have to do is scream and shout for your favourite artist!!!
What is even better is that they are offering this all for FREE! Also, for the first lucky 30 people through the door there will be a free jelly shot waiting for you, and there will be more freebies throughout the night.
£2 for a Stella bottle before 11pm, and £3.30 on all pints, all night.
Closest tube is Aldgate East and Liverpool Street.
