March 2010 – The Smirnoff Co. is pleased to announce the details of Rumble in The Jungle, an exciting nightlife event set to hit the Southwest showcasing the likes of Chase & Status and Sub Focus in the unforgettable surroundings of Cornwall’s iconic Eden Project.
Promoter Nigel Muntz has been awarded a £5,000 Creative Grant as part of The Smirnoff Co.’s ongoing commitment to celebrate unforgettable, one-of-a-kind experiences – the type you look back on and say ‘I was there’. Joining forces with Beth Lewit of Eden Arts Café, Nigel will be using his Smirnoff Creative Grant to create an extraordinary festival-esque experience in the breathtaking surroundings of the Eden Project; one of the UK’s biggest tourist attractions, globally recognised for it’s botanical gardens and spectacular architectural beauty. For one night only get ready to dance the night away as this unique venue plays host to the most exciting underground art and music event the Southwest has ever seen.
Nestled amongst the Eden Project’s spectacular rainforest and Mediterranean biomes will be multiple arenas where party goers can enjoy the D‘n’B, dubstep, break, funk and hip hop beats from the likes of Benga, Krafty Kuts and A-skills alongside local DJ heros such as Mr Nice, Klimax and Darko. Adding to the excitement: exceptional laser displays, trapeze artists and the opportunity for guests to explore the infamous biomes, home to the venue’s magnificent tropical plants.
Those stuck on a place to stay for the night can continue the magical theme of the night and sleep under the stars in the surrounding campsites, which are offering discounted rates for ticket holders. Whatever the weather, Cornwall can expect the bass to be rumbling through the jungle at this festival event like no other.
This cutting-edge idea was hand-picked from the hundreds of creative individuals who applied to win one of the four bursaries available via The Smirnoff Co’s dedicated Facebook page. Nightlife luminaries Rob da Bank of Radio 1, DJ duo The Queens of Noize, second generation music mogul Oliver Wilson, nightlife correspondent Rahul Verma and Clash Magazine’s Matthew Bennett made up the vodka brand’s panel of experts who selected winners.
Now in its second year, the initiative has already supported more than 24 original nights around the UK. Working with up-and-coming promoters at grassroots level the Smirnoff Creative Grants initiative gives thousands of party people an experience they will never forget. In 2010, London, Brighton and Cornwall will see the future of nightlife in action as the chosen four turn their ideas into a reality.
Rob da Bank comments
“Smirnoff Creative Grants is one of the best things out there in the UK club and festival market, for people that want to make something of their career. It’s the chance of a lifetime for people with totally original ideas to get the cash from Smirnoff to follow it through and realise their vision.
