MATTEW DEAR, Nikola Baytala, Shoddy Lynn & Blu Farm
Detroit's prince of techno returns! MATTHEW DEAR has made remarkable steps toward becoming one of America’s best new techno artists. Both talented and prolific, having released some of the most original and diverse electronic music out there. His sleek and minimal style, containing a pop sensibility and an ambient often pleasantly dark soul has garnered him a worldwide following. The new MATTHEW DEAR album BLACK CITY coming August 17th (North America) is rumoured to be one of the year's best domestic imprints. It will be Dear's first full-length under his own name since 2007's Asa Breed, and follows a similar style to that release, with deep, crooning vocals layered over sleek electronic beats. Depending on whom you ask, Matthew Dear is a DJ, a dance-music producer, an experimental pop artist, a bandleader. He co-founded both Ghostly International and its dance floor offshoot, Spectral Sound. He’s had remixes commissioned by the XX, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Spoon, Hot Chip, The Postal Service, and Chemical Brothers; he’s made mixes for the Fabric mix series and Get Physical’s Body Language. He maintains four aliases (Audion, False, Jabberjaw, and Matthew Dear), each with its own style and distinct visual identity. Support from resident NIKOLA BAYTALA, SHODDY LYNN & BLUFARM.
