JB, NILLS - RETOX
Ernesto Leal (Curator and Concept Developer at Our History Prints) presents a very special Art and Film private view next Thursday 15th Feb at Sosho. Our History Prints, Retox and Sosho have collaborated to give you an evening of visual and audio entertainment all themed around club culture over the last 20 years (press release and flyer attached).
The event opens Our History Prints international exhibition which will stay at newly refurbished Sosho until the end of the month, before moving to the rest of Europe and Japan. At the private view next Thursday, on arrival there will be a reception of free Tapas style food, cocktails, beer and wine (7pm until around 9pm).
The digitally re-mastered films on show will date back to 1988, and they act as a visual portal back into the hedonistic days gone by of the first rave and warehouse parties of the late 80's and early 90's in London, Bristol, Blackburn and Ibiza and they are some of the only footage of their kind. Film makers include Angus Cameron and Kevin Sampson, Dom Phillips and Wiz.
The art work on show has been reproduced by the original artist to 1mx1m size and includes graphic designs which advertised some of the most successful dance club nights and artists of the time including Back to Basics, Global Underground and Sasha. Designers include Tomato, Tom Hingston Studio, Dave Little and Mark Wigan as well as artwork from old Back To Basics Flyers.
In the lounge downstairs Retox resident DJs+ a very special guest will be playing electronic delights as part of a Retox membership promotion. Retox membership sign up will also be available.
