Aphex Twin a.k.a. Richard David James a.k.a. AFX, Power-Pill, Caustic Window, Polygon Window and Dice Man from Limerick, Ireland, has, since the mid 80s, expanded the sounds of electronic music, diving into styles like acid, ambient, jungle, drum ’n’ bass and techno with humour and a deft touch.
The artist who began his career DJing raves during the acid house era of the late 80s has, through the years, on Belgium label R&S, the Warp label as well as his own Rephlex label, generated seminal recordings that remain cutting-edge today. These include Analogue Bubblebath (1991), Digeridoo (1992), 1992’s Selected Ambient Works 85-92 ("a watershed of ambient music" - John Bush, Allmusic.com) and 1995’s I Care Because You Do ("a genius construction which messes with your head in the way only Aphex Twin can" - Sputnik music).
Today, he continues to play DJ sets across the UK and Europe amid collaborations with artists like post-classical composer Philip Glass and film maker Chris Cunningham that result in experimental works of extraordinary beauty.
In this sole stop in Asia, Aphex Twin brings his audio visual art rave show to the stage incorporating lasers and cutting edge live visuals.
