VERY SPECIAL SECRET GUEST (SHHHHHH/DON'T TELL A SOUL) - trust - a legend
ALEX JONES (HYPERCOLOUR)
Despite a personality dripping with sharp wit and a seeming inability to take anything TOO seriously, Alex Jones the DJ/Producer is seriously one of the brightest lights in house music in the UK.A resident DJ at the legendary Big Beat Boutique alongside an emerging Radio Slave, Jones has since established himself as a versatile yet focused DJ who delivers sharp, modern house and techno with a distinctly trippy edge.
Via further residencies with seminal nights and clubs such as Electric Stew, 333, Dovebridge Studios, and his own Synth Nymph nights, Jones embedded himself in the massively fertile London scene which has subsequently borne talent such as Giles Smith, James Priestly, Jamie Jones and many more. Playing alongside jocks as varied as Robert Hood, Simian Mobile Disco and Maurice Fulton gave Jones a true understanding of the full spectrum of dance music – something that is more than evident in his production work today.
A rethink and restock resulted in three pivotal moments for Alex; the creation of Hypercolour with close friend and Playground promoter Jamie Russell, a renewed focus on his production and his departure from his night Retox. The production started quickly, a testament to Alex’s talent as the transition from novice to one of London’s most talked about producers was immensely fast due to his releases for Hypercolour, Viva Music, Glimpse Recordings, Kindisch, XL, No.19, murmur and Tiga’s Turbo imprint. Most recently he has released on legendary German label Playhouse to much acclaim. His A&R skills have not gone unnoticed either, as most of the worlds dance music magazines have heaped praise on Hypercolour output from new like talent like Kris Wadsworth, Matt Star, Tom Demac and Jones himself.
With a DJ diary which now includes the likes of Watergate, Tresor and Fabric as well as a residency at Steve Lawlers’s VIVa night coupled with forthcoming productions for Tsuba, Hypnotone, Kindisch, Bloop, Tartelet, Kitsune plus his 2 new labels Losing Suki & Glass Table, Alex Jones is certainly one to keep a constant eye on.
DeadEcho is a combined force of both Rob Bradley and Adam Firman. Their sound fits somewhere in-between house and techno but, as those who hear their sets will know, they don’t believe in sticking within one genre or sound.
Their first release featured remixes from Jay Tripwire and was charted by the likes of Thomas Schumacher and Alex Niggeman and supported buy big hitters such as Ripperton, Robert Owens, Seth Troxler and Locodice.
Their most recent release “She’s All Over Me” included MarcAshken on vocal duties and a huge remix package with Jay Haze, MarcAshken, Pedramovich, Clio and 102nd Century all getting involved. It is a sleazy fingers up to the mundane and features tongue in cheek vocals about a wasted girl bothering a DJ in a club. Ewan Pearson has been nailing it and listed it in his most recent ‘’bombs in the bag’’ and Circo Loco’s Clive Henry stated it was ‘’the best promo I have been sent in time…maximum support!.’’ If you add this with support from Italoboyz, Jamie Jones and Slam, it is safe to say this release made a splash.
DeadEcho also have a monthly residency at a new Party called DIP. It is held at The Russian Bar in Dalston and so far monthly guests have included Anthea, MarcAshken, Til Von Sein and Ryan Crosson.
With several E.P's soon to release, a string of remixes in the pipeline and gigs in Brighton, London, Ireland and Germany already booked from 2011, you are likely to hear a lot from these boys in the forthcoming months.
