First and foremost we’d like to thank everyone who attended the March event, it was a great party!!!
For the next installment of RE_CHORD we’re proud to bring to you DENNEY (BacktoBasics/Future/2020Vision/Greatstuff).
This cheeky northerner has really been causing waves amongst the dance fraternity over the last couple of years, pushing his distinctive brand of quality Acid House and Techno.
It wasnt until the end of 2004 that things really started to pick up for Denney when Mixmag awarded him the title of “Youngest Mixmag Future Hero”, this ranked him alongside such DJs as Nic Fanciulli, Tom Neville, The Beat Monkeys and Sonny Wharton to name but a few.
This was a real stepping stone, as a few weeks after the magazine had been published, He was asked to warm up for Fatboy Slim on his much acclaimed Palookeville album tour infront of 2000 people.
Since the tour and the publicity that surrounded it Denney has played and can regularly be seen at such clubs as Gatecrasher Leeds & Sheffield (where he held a residency from 2006/2007), Circus, Back to Basics, Dirty Disco, Progression, Sugarshack, Hidden in London, and also secured a Bi-Monthly residency at one of the best underground house nights in the UK - The Pin Up Club in Sheffield in 2005. As well as these venues he has played abroad in Germany, Portugal and Ibiza – booked twice for Manumission in 2007 and Privilege in 2008. Alongside DJing Denney is gaining massive respect from his peers for his production skills. His first track "The Phantom" released on Nic Fanciulli and Andy Chatterley's Saved Records, gained support from Pete Tong (who played it on the Essential Selection on Radio 1 as well as putting it in his top 5 tracks to look out for in summer 2006) James Zabiela, Josh Wink, Funk d'void, Deep Dish, James Talk and of course Nic Fanciulli. Since then he has had releases on Nu-breed and Mode records, remixed D Ramirez’s track on Azuli and Chicago’s Justin Long on Dotbleep.
On top of that Denney promotes and is resident for his “Future” night in Teeside, the aim of the night is to bring him back to his home area to play, bring the fun back into House music and also bring friends and DJ’s he admires in to play with him such as Ralph Lawson, Layo & Bushwacka!, Nic Fanciulli, Steve Lawler, Claude Von Stroke, DJ Sneak, Buckley, Andrew Weatherall and Ewan Pearson. Denney has appeared on numerous Radio shows and interviews over the years, these include - BFBS1 Germany, Ministry Of Sound Radio, Galaxy FM (where he has been a guest on the NU-BREED show 4 times) and Radio 1, where he mixed a 15 minute producer profile of his own tracks for the Trophy Twins show. The future is already looking bright with forthcoming high profile gigs at such clubs as his new residency at Tall Trees in Yarm, Back to Basics in Leeds, Matter in London, Sankeys in Manchester and Pete Tong presents Wonderland in Ibiza as well as various radio appearances, tracks and remixes
We’ve decided to keep the guest-list for the April event also, so please if you’d like to get in, save some cash and avoid the queues please post your names on the event wall. Guest-list is only valid until 11pm, so get yourselves down early.
