At the age of 14, when he first put needle to record, Thomas Schumacher unknowingly lay the foundation for what would become his life-long passion for music.
Thomas started into 2010 in full swing. He was casted next to his Brazilian colleague Gui Boratto to remix Trentemøller's single "Sycamore Feeling". The affiliation with Get Physical is set to continue in 2010 when Thomas releases his much anticipated single "Taxi" on June 2nd with remixes from Riva Starr and M.a.n.d.y vs. Siopis. "Taxi" is the perfect single to set the tone for what is going to be huge year for an exceptional and authentic artist.
Thomas Schumacher has always been – and continues to be – an eclectic DJ and producer, with a strong foundation in Detroit techno and House music.?Nowadays Thomas is a proud family man, and while he still spends a lot of his time in the arrivals and departure lounges of airports all over the world, he is honoured to travel to every corner of the globe to do his thing, and showcase the diversity that has become his trademark.
Born in Siena, raised in Naples, it took a trip to London for Davide to finally discover electronic music. Wooed by the mood and sound of the British scene, he returned to Naples flush with energy, excitement and a knowing that this new calling would consume him. ??Davide immersed himself in this world in every conceivable way. In 1999 he began studying at the Naples’ school of sound engineering, tinkering with his first productions, promoting techno events, and finally performing. His first releases on Primate Records, Design Music and Conform were a cadence of his arrival and showcased the young artist’s steadfast style.
In addition to his genre-defining works, Davide continues to inspire and ignite dancefloors worldwide. Whether it be at Circoloco, where he has been a resident since 2007, Womb, Berghain, D.Edge, or any other marquee venue, Davide plays with an unequalled funk and excitement. His signature sets, revered by the masses and peers alike, do a double duty in guarding our much-loved traditions while constantly pushing them forward.??The realm of possibilities for one of electronic music’s leading lights is endless. Unfortunately, the minutes in the day are not. Davide’s answer is simple – do what you love and make no compromises.
The three last years have been crazy for Mainz-based German Turkish producer and DJ Bülent Gürler, the driving force behind the brawny pseudonym Butch. Well, actually, all his life has been crazy. From his early days as a graffiti artist to today, Bülent Gürler, a sparkling individual with a great sense of humor, has always pushed the envelope. An immensely talented, music-ridden, technique-crazed person with a strong zest for recognition, he’s undergone a huge artistic metamorphosis in order to expose himself. And now that his “Papillon” is spreading its wings, Butch is ready to take off!??Locked into his studio for years, Bülent honed his skills to perfection and subsequently created his very own definition of sound. An utterly open-minded approach to music and life in general as well as a downright emotional way of dealing with things is responsible for his amalgamated style that smoothes the edges of techno, house, minimal and experimental stuff and melts them into one great colorful experience. Incorporating everything from guitar licks to deep gurgling acid - anything that feels good - into his sound, he manages to dulcify 1001 nights, and he is no where near tired yet…
Simon Baker has played an influential part of the UK house and techno scene for the better part of the last decade. He is an artist that generates his own musical trail through a stand out style, which is purely his own and always current. Pioneering labels such as Cocoon and Playhouse have long since been pressing his tracks, and each of these has helped stamp his dextrous musical talent upon the far reaches of the globe.
Simon Baker has cultivated his resolute DJ skills over the last 17 years, putting them into continual practice through constant demand for worldwide touring. He recently completed his third full North American tour including a debut at Space in Miami and summer 2010 saw him regularly guest at Kehakuma at Space in Ibiza and grace the stage at the huge Carl Cox And Friends event in Mallorca. Other highlights for the year included the Parklife Festival and The Warehouse Project in Manchester, a new residency at Liverpool’s cutting edge mUmU party and air london showcases in Paris, Barcelona and Ibiza.
2010 has been about dedicating time to the studio for the forthcoming long player, which promises ample new standout material to anticipate. His growing reputation as a producer of timeless music marks Simon Baker out as a true global player and English national treasure.??“A true future British electronic pioneer in the making, and outstanding DJ to boot” – Resident Advisor.
One of the most eagerly anticipated and prolific producers of the moment, Glimpse is a true innovator who is able to explore and master various genres in his own inimitable style. Few artists have managed to truly captivate diverse audiences in the way he has over the past few years. The London-based producer is blurring the distinctions of traditional genres, appealing to even the most obstinate listeners through his tireless dedication to continual reinvention.??Having bubbled steadily through the ranks of the underground dance scene for the past few years, Glimpse has released records with Carl Craig’s Planet E, Cadenza, Kindisch and Buzzin Fly in 2009 alone and his outstanding debut artist album ‘Runner’ will be released on Damian Lazarus’ Crosstown Rebels in May 2010. His productions are a beguiling, heady mix of house music drawing on the true essence of its rudimentary influences to produce records of true magic. Managing to weave elements of jazz and soul with house and techno to create something wholly innovative and mesmerizing, Glimpse has recently been identified by DJ Mag and Mixmag as one of the UK’s finest talents.??Preferring more traditional production techniques, he uses only analogue equipment and records most of his tracks live, editing only afterwards, thus giving his music a more improvised quality. “I have always been drawn to the smokey lo-fi aesthetic of old recordings, warm and rhythmical but never abrasive or intrusive,” explains Glimpse, “As an artist it's very important to me to be as honest as possible when I produce, to show people my influences and portray exactly the way I feel about music, aiming to narrow the gulf between thought and expression.”
TRUE. HOUSE. MUSIC.??Three words that define the style and sound of Darius Syrossian, yet also represent the principles by which he has successfully made his name as a DJ, producer, label boss and radio host at a global level. He is one of the core artists of Steve Lawler's Viva family and has ticked off every major club and festival in an extensive touring schedule; his production skills have lead to acclaim with labels such Area Remote, 8 Bit and Monique Musique; as well as VIVa MUSiC, and there is a forthcoming production about to drop on the huge Get Physical, his own imprint Breakout Audio has presided over collaborations with talent such as Paul Woolford, Julian Chaptal and Pier Bucci; and the VIVa radio show that Darius hosts to thousands each week is now broadcast to over 30 countries.
Connecting all his talents, Darius is also the voice of the bi-weekly VIVa Music Radio show, which is downloaded by thousands of listeners and syndicated across over 30 countries to be broadcast on FM radio, with contributing guests to the show having included Stacey Pullen, Guti, Nic Fanciulli, Boris Werner, Kabale Und Liebe, Lauhaus, Soul Clap, Luna City Express & more. ??Ultimately, this is yet another avenue that embraces the philosophy of Darius Syrossian, to always focus on the music, ?to always guard the principles of house and always, but always, to remain true. In his own words: ' I'm into the scene because I LOVE THE MUSIC, not like a lot of people who are into the music because they LOVE THE SCENE. It's only about the music for me, and that's all that matters!'
