About the Helter Skelters anti-Dance night
They call LCD Soundsystem dance. We call it rock 'n roll. They call New Order dance. We call it pop. What on earth is dance? Come to think of it, is there any other country which uses it in the same way we do? Is it a white man with a computer? Is it beats? Or is it just something to dance to? 'This is a song Charles Manson stole from the Beatles and we're stealing it back' says an inspired Bono on U2's album Rattle & Hum as an introduction to their incredibly flawed version of Helter Skelter. By now we don't know anymore who stole the term dance from who, let alone what it really stands for. Expect on the new weekly clubnight at The Sugar Factory no meaningless beats, just the music that says everything about your life. 'Burn down the disco, hang the blessed dj!' We couldnt agree more with these infamous words from the godfather of pop, Morrissey. Anti-dance, if you will. Get on your dancing shoes is more like it. The Arctic Monkeys, The Smiths, Roisin Murphy, Iggy Pop, The Rapture. No one is Losing their edge. Dance? Rock 'n Roll!
