After what seems like an eternity Coma returns to the Source Bar after Ashley Wild and Waifs & Strays teared it to shreds in January. We have 3 summer dates confirmed, the first of which is on Saturday 26th May and we are delighted to announce DJ W!ld of Cocoon and Circo Loco will be headlining alongside the ever present Coma residents.
It's hard to know where to start regarding our headliner Guillaume Duchastel De Montrouge or DJ W!ld to you and I. He’s certainly one of the most hard working DJ’s we’ve ever come across. W!ld took his name from his early graffiti days and one of his first influences was fellow Frenchman Laurent Garnier as well as the Chicago and Detroit scenes. He first gained recognition in his home-town of Paris, playing at the likes of Palace, Queen and Rex clubs. After meeting fellow Frenchman Chris Carrier the duo joined forces under the Catwash moniker, with tracks finding their way into the sets of Loco Dice and Riche Hawtin. Soon after Catwash records was established the demand for minimal techno fuelled W!ld’s desire to continue producing his own trademark French house music. Often completing a track in two or three days you would think it was a matter of quantity over quality but W!ld is an exception to the rule and releases on some of the finest house labels around such as Robsoul, Off, Love Letters From Oslo, Soweso, Luna, Adult and RAL (the bootleg label of Ricardo Villalobos and Luciano) suggest otherwise.
In 2009 after debuting at WMC and Sonar, W!ld was announced as a Circo Loco resident, playing a part in the new revolution of artists performing at the brands infamous parties at DC10 and also in Japan. Shortly after he was invited by Sven Vath to join the Cocoon family and gigs at Fabric, Panorama Bar and other top European clubs soon followed. Fast forward to 2011 and W!ld has his own label ‘W’ and has just released his latest album ‘Palace’ with remixes by the likes of Kerri Chandler, Art Department and Radio Slave. Another album called ‘Dirty’ is also to be released this year on Radio Slave’s Cabin Fever label as well as new releases on established labels such as Robsoul, One and Viva. The only way is up for W!ld in 2012 and with a CV as rich as this you’d be foolish to miss a true craftsman in action.
Support as ever comes in the form of Rob Cockerton, Alex Kilby, Michael Barham, Ashley McKenna and Ritchie Prior.
