Lata, Alexander Tucker, Cindytalk, Roly Porter
The penultimate night of the Exotic Pylon Festival is an eclectic trip through the gradual unfolding, collapse and rebuilding of structure through 4 very different but equally mesmerising acts…
Alexander Tucker explores the furthest reaches of song, emerging from a folk-like textures and structures and then collapsing into electronic exploration. Friday’s performance will find him on the cusp of releasing what promises to be his most radical album yet, Third Mouth. His live sets are now leaning towards a full electronic set up with an 8 track, pedals and loopers – a unique and distinctive voice, this promises to be a truly beautiful experience.
One of my absolute favourite bands in the world, Cindytalk are an extraordinarily powerful live act, who now operate in an entirely improvisatory zone. Cinder, Dan Knowler, Paul Middleton, Gary Jef and Jacob Burn dissolve genre boundaries in a genuinely original way creating a space of free noise that further distinguished by their ability to move from savage elegance to melancholy poetry in the blink of an eye.
Roly Porter was best known as half of the almost-legendary production duo Vex'd who were crucial in the development of the dubstep sound whilst operating with a much broader and more ambitious sonic manifesto. Last year Roly returned with his extraordinary debut album Aftertime blending his command of heavy textural depth with a refined almost classical compositional skill. Truly intense.
