SUBSONIC PRESENTS 'END OF THE LINE' FEATURING STIMMING (LIVE)
From the ashes of the Easter Long Weekend, which will undoubtedly have left many alsorans cowering in the confines of their bedrooms attempting to suppress their regret with gluttons of chocolate, Subsonic with support from Chemistry invites you to come to the End Of The Line and experience the ‘Rolls Royce’ of kickon options this Easter Monday...
Hamburg-based producer MARTIN STIMMING, a linchpin of DIYNAMIC MUSIC, will headline the next in Subsonic’s END OF THE LINE Long Weekend sub-brand on Easter Monday at The Abercrombie Hotel. Stimming will be flanked by an assortment of Sydney’s finest local proponents of house, techno and more eclectic electronic sounds over 2 inside and outdoors areas – we’ve even enticed Australias finest female selector and Australia's #1 female talent VOLTA from Melbourne to join the party. Not a bad way to bring the party back to the Abercrombie after the infamous Deep As Funk events at the very same venue five years ago, eh?!
STIMMING: A CLOSER LOOK
Now back to the star attraction. Stimming shot to prominence through releases on Buzzin' Fly and Liebe Detail before the release of his debut album, Reflections, back in ’09 on the Diynamic imprint that he calls home.
Stimming has subsequently remixed electronic music deity such as Luomo, Sascha Funke and Nina Kraviz , Alexander Kowalski and Blagger while steadily releasing EPs that continue to garner critical and dancefloor accolades for offering top-drawer spiky tech-house hybrids and evocative house grooves. (As one particularly effusive review of Stimming’s b-side ‘For My Girl’on Resident Advisor gushed, “in terms of simple beauty... it simply makes my heart ache.â€)
Stimming’s sophomore album, Liquorice, dropped last year, with the folk at fabric nightclub describing the album as “a propulsive dive into the headspace of a producer whose hankering for slowed down electronic groove is unparalleled outside of producers like Nicolas Jaar.â€
In addition to Stimming, we’re also throwing in some pretty handy extras – a local lineup that truly is “thee businessâ€. With the party commencing at midday for those who want to maintain the Easter rave, Picnic’s KALI will be opening proceedings at noon outdoors, while Future Classic’s JIMI POLAR will be following on with an early afternoon set. Thereafter Mad Racket mainman SIMON CALDWELL will take to the decks circa 3pm, ahead of former enfant terrible CHRIS HONNERY, Subsonic residents MSG and MARCOTIX alongside the newest addition to the Subsonic stable - VOLTA. Defined By Rythm will be knuckling down with some gritty techno as we get deeper into the night as will techno’s odd couple, the GLITCH DJS.
As anyone who attended the previous End of the Line party featuring Adultnapper on the October Long Weekend will attest to, these parties run well past midnight – last time round our international guest played an extended set till past 3am. So come early for lunch and the happy hour specials (which run from midday till 4pm) and stay for dinner and well beyond as we round off the Easter Weekend in true Subsonic style on Easter Monday. The chocolate can wait for one more day...
