Following the recent announcement by The Bongo that their landlords at Edinburgh Uni have issued them with a notice to quit by September 2012, this date will be devoted to this burgeoning campaign, in a bid to raise awareness for its essential cause.
Having amassed thousands of signatures to their online petition, the Bongo’s campaign has already taken on a life of its own.
A slew of famous names and public figures jumped up to voice their concerns including comedian Mark Thomas, Edinburgh Fringe Festival Chief Executive Kath Mainland, BBC Radio Scotland presenter Janice Forsyth, Edinburgh University Rector Iain Macwhirter, Malcolm Chilsolm, MSP and Councillors Charles Dundas, (Lib-Dem, City Centre Ward) and Gordon Munro, (Labour, Leith Ward).
BUT the University is currently adamant that they will proceed with the eviction and nowhere has yet been provided as a suitable replacement space...
