Mark Fell, LARRY GOVES, POINTS OF LIGHT, SLP DJs
Experimental music for acoustic instruments, electronics, and the dancefloor.
Multidisciplinary artist based in Sheffield (UK). Mark is at the forefront of modern computer sound. Working in the realm of minmal techno and installtion he has released critically music for flagship labels like Raser-Noton, Mille Plateaux, Line, and Editions Mego . Although working in electronic and techno music traditions, Mark's practice has become increasingly informed by non-European musics. This is evident in two recent linked works "Multistablity" and "UL8" which explore a number of unfamiliar timing and tuning systems. Uncut magazine called these "completely mind-blowing" and the Wire said these were "amazing". As well as recorded works Mark also produces installation pieces often using multispatial speaker technologies. Mark has performed at events around the world including Sonar, Mutek, Offf and many more. He is also a member of SND & Blir.
Larry Goves is a composer based in the UK. His music has been performed by the London Sinfonietta, the Nash Ensemble, Sarah Nicolls, the BBC Philharmonic, Psappha, Ixion, The Hallé, 175 East, The Continuum Ensemble and many others all over the UK and abroad. He has been broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and New Zealand’s Concert FM and had pieces released on NMC and Dutton Epoch.
He founded, writes for and performs electronics with the experimental music group the house of bedlam with performances at the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival and Faster than Sound 2008 amongst others. He places emphasis on collaboration and has worked particularly closely with the performers Oliver Coates, Sarah Nicolls and Tom McKinney. He has also worked closely with the sound designer and artist David Sheppard, composer and DJ mira calix and neuroscientist Beau Lotto.
