John Dahlbäck, Mason, Dave Ellesmere, VJ Kleurbleur
Electronation’s successful ‘Rex’ night has become a monthly night, every last Saturday in the Sugar Factory, dedicated to the interesting electronic artists of today. For the March edition John Dahlback, Mason and Dave Ellesmere are on the menu.
You could say than every record-buying person that hasn’t heard of JOHN DAHLBACK must have been living in a cage for a couple of years, as this Swede is dominating just about everything! His gigantic list of remixes is never-ending, his countless productions filled with dirty dark basslines blow out of all speakers, albums he produces in between, his uber-succesful label Pickadoll is continuing to release quality but he has a few more labels here and there, all possible combinations of collaborations with Mark o’Sullivan and nephew Jesper Dahlback under names as Huggotron, Hugg & Pepp etc have been tried out and are fun, his dj schedule leads him to all corners of the world, etc. etc. etc. etc. There are a few people who can just do it all, in huge quantities, while keeping on delivering quality. John Dahlback. And he’s 21 years old. The age an average dj is just starting to beat match two records. It’s just not fair.
MASON is at the moment the hot thing outside of Holland, and he’s part of a new generation Dutch producer that bring a whole new sound from Holland than trance. His record Exceeder was chosen dance number 2 of 2006, and even hit the UK Pop charts at #3 in a mash-up version, but also his other productions and remixes got lots of support around the world. Mason has become the busiest guy of Amsterdam since. His flight schedule goes from Tokyo to London and from South America to Australia and back, and in the meantime he remixed people like Freeform Five, Sharam Jey, Luetzenkirchen, Ordinary Boys and many more. Soon his debut album will be out, and he’ll be doing lots of live performances throughout this summer.
The night will be supported by a live performance of DAVE ELLESMERE, who already had a long career, being a drummer in a punk band, running his own label ‘Emergency Broadcast’, producing records for several labels like Kanzleramt, 100% Pure and K20, and playing live all around Europe. Expect great atmospheric techno from this man.
