Astral People and Niche Productions, in conjunction with FBi Radio are proud to present a night of the highest calibre electronic music the world has to offer. PEARSON SOUND, BEN UFO, PARIAH, XXXY and SLOW MAGIC represent the cutting edge of tech house, bass and garage, scaling new heights and breaking into new sonic territory with each release.
PEARSON SOUND is riding a career high that most of us can only dream of: when David Kennedy isn’t DJing at Europe’s best venues (including the London Eye) he’s releasing world beating collaborations with Joy O and Boddika, running the celebrated Hessle Audio imprint, opening for Radiohead, garnering acclaim for a seminal Fabric Live compilation and lecturing for Red Bull Music Academy.
Hessle Audio co-founder BEN UFO has flown under the radar while introducing the world to the likes of Blawan and Elgato; now he stands as a key figure in the UK scene. Ben Thomson’s DJ sets and fortnightly Rinse FM show have become bench marks of quality and variety, constantly introducing listeners to forgotten classics and modern masters.
Since transcending the 2009 dubstep scene with his debut 12” ‘Detroit Falls/Orpheus’, PARIAH has moved into the more direct driving world of techno. Fresh off a collaboration with R&S stablemate Blawan (as Karenn), Arthur Cayzer has plunged deep into the world of live techno, honing his sound on a battery of analog machines.
Since releasing the celebrated Everything EP in 2012, XXXY has become a hero for fans of bass, garage, dubstep and glitch. His signature has been his ability to infuse his productions with warmth and melody that sets him apart from his peers.
Rounding out the line up is the anonymous US enigma, SLOW MAGIC. Not a whole lot is known about this artist; nonetheless, his music has hit a chord. Describing his music as ‘dreamwave’, SLOW MAGIC’s productions are replete with skywide sheens of vocal wash and synthesiser throbs.
Supporting these heavyweights is a clutch of esteemed Sydney locals: DRO CAREY is one of the city’s most prodigious talents; DRO’s debut album is set to drop on UK label RAMP Recordings who has released the likes of Shed, Erol Alkan and Peter Van Hoesen in the past. CLIQUES are another local success story. The duo recently scored a spot on Oneman’s label 502 Recordings and will be dropping a new release in the near future. Finally BEN FESTER will be warming things up coming of the back of supporting the likes of Kyle Hall and Dark Sky as one half of Astral DJs.
