Huerco S, Anthony Naples, Nacho Lovers
hi guys and gals,
we're proud to bring you our first instalment at the lovely DRAKE UNDERGROUND, introducing a couple very exciting young producers to the city of toronto for the first time to keep us warm on the dancefloor. if you know me, then you've heard me rave about these guys, but here's a little info:
HUERCO S first hit my ear at the recommendation of a friend. it was his 12" for wicked bass recs, the "no jack ep". the slowed-out, groovy sounds of the title tune hit me instantly, and the other tracks [including a nice rework from praveen sharma as braille] went even deeper, with a very well-realized melodic sensibility. after discovering his untitled release on the cassette-only label, opal tapes, a lower key, but somehow even more vibrant, exploratory release i was hooked. come through and see what he has to offer the dancefloor.
also joining for the trip will be ANTHONY NAPLES. after originally hearing about him through his very compelling remix of four tet's 128 harps [hmm how many artists have i discovered through a four tet remix?] i checked his 12" for MSN, "mad disrespect" and loved it. very classic house/techno on this one, and his new whitelabel release "ill still" is going to be turning some heads. by a stroke of luck, mr. naples ended up being available for this date as well, so i can't tell you how excited we are for this lineup.
rounding out the bill are hometown heroes and good guys, NACHO LOVERS. i'm not sure where i first actually met these guys face to face, but i do remember that the first "after-hours" party i ever went to was a nacho lovers + friends jam on noble st in very early 2010, a story i regurgitate often. since then we've run into each other at gigs, on bills, and shared quite a bit of music with each other. it's always refreshing to meet people who are into a wide range of sounds, and i couldn't be happier to have andrew and scott with us here tonight.
