REAL NICE are a DJ/Production duo who started their music career as students in Bristol soon becoming residents for Blowpop where they cut their teeth as DJs. The next step was to start producing and their first release, a collaboration with Cubiq "Had Enough'' (Love Not Money Records) received support from the likes of Solomun, Audiojack and the Hot Creations crew. Their release "Ugly Brotha" followed soon on New York’s Nurvous Records, as well as "Oooo" on Love Not Money Records in late 2012. With their move down to London the boys also started to organize their own events, enabling them to share the decks at their Real Nice & ETA colab parties with heavyweights such as Booka Shade, M.A.N.D.Y, Richey Ahmed, Russ Yallop, Christophe and Lucas, Hot Since 82, Aeroplane, Waze & Odyssey, Andre Crom and Finbassen to name a few. With Real Nice Records launching in April this year, 2013 is looking Real Nice.
A uniquely melodic style runs through AUGUST JAKOBSEN's house and techno productions thanks to a background in jazz composition, while his DJ sets are filled with original tracks, re-edits, and often featuring guest vocalists and live synths. August also performs and records as one-half of APP, a live house and techno collaboration with Peter Pixzel (WetYourSelf), while his most recent alias is Violent Romance, a deep house project featuring vocalist Tuhin Chisti. Recent collaborations also include work with UK hip-hop crew Foreign Beggars. His background in music started early, with roots in chill out and dub, and a degree from the Trinity College of Music specializing in jazz guitar, influences you can hear in the music he makes today. In 2006, August Jakobsen, Jacob Hansen and Ahmed Salti launched their own label and street party 218 later to become TEMBA, a monthly house music night at Café 1001. August’s next release will be on Shadow Sanctuary, Dexter Kane’s new label, while he previously released on labels such as Global Underground, Stella Polaris, Kindisch and Diynamic to name a few.
Born in Hackney East London, the concept of HIGHFLESH originated through the Brazilian/German couple LU & SPIELKAMERAD, both passionate about underground dance music. Providing partygoers with high quality music consistently throughout the night is the couple’s main focus, and with this in mind, the core essence of HighFlesh is to play only the best in electronic music at each event without haltering. Highly ambitious Lu & Spielkamerad aim to highlight the element of "quality" within HighFlesh by prioritizing carefully selected tracks whilst offering a diverse range of musical variety. From deep, slow, funky and melodic house tunes to up-lifting disco and intense tech-house & electro tracks, this pair aims to present a wide spectrum of electronic music with a desire to enlighten audiences with new or lesser known artists and tracks whilst providing a carefully tailored progression to each of their sets. Overall the experience HighFlesh aims to provide to its audience is an endless feeling of party going...
MIRO is a character of the Slovak underground music scene from it's very beginning after communism. After working as the musical director of modern jazz club Nu Spirit Bar for more than five years, as music journalist for political magazine ‘týždeň’, and as music selector for the very first record store in Bratislava, Miro decided to move to London in 2008 in order to set up a different level of his music career. With this in mind, SundayMusiq was born in East London a year later, which found its first home at The Russian Bar. After only eight months SundayMusiq moved to the East Village for another year period, to finally become the Sunday afternoon regular event at Café 1001. Every first Monday of the month you can listen to Miro and DJ friend Jane Fitz in their DirtySoundsSession radio show on http://www.myhouseyourhouse.net/.
And as Miro likes to say…WITH LOVE:)
