Astral Industries is a record label and club night aiming to become a hub of deep electronic music in London and worldwide, with a forthcoming series of vinyl releases featuring some of the most talented artists in hazy, lo-fi and dubbed out frequencies.
After the success of our launch party we’re back in the Plan B basement with a 90-minute live performance from an artist we are proud to welcome onto our AI roster alongside Deepchord – Greek producer Kostas Soublis aka Fluxion. With G.R.I.T’s technical issues (fingers crossed!) solved we are also very pleased to be having him back to play his much-missed live set. Support on the night comes from Crescent/Voyager label boss Alex Crescent, Deep in Dub/Drift Deeper artist Niccolo Machiavelli and of course AI boss Ario.
FLUXION [Astral Industries, Echocord, Type]
Fluxion aka Kostas Soublis is a Greek producer that has been active for more than 10 years, with 6 full-length albums and 12 EP/LP releases on Chain Reaction, Vibrant Music, Resopal, and Echocord. His releases have been remixed by Deadbeat, Thomas Fehlmann, Rod Modell, Morphosis, Convextion amongst others. Fluxion’s music includes different genres of electronic music, ambient, dub, experimental, techno, with sound design. His music has a characteristic of slowly evolving parts and contemplating elements which form lengthy musical pieces. His sounds are heavily processed to a point where the origin of a sound has little to do with the end result.
Similar to many of the other artists surrounding the Hardwax-affiliated record labels in Berlin, Fluxion shrouded himself in anonymity despite releasing a handful of wonderful downtempo experimental techno releases on the Chain Reaction label. Epic in scope with a bit of the clicks + cuts approach synonymous with artists such as Vladislav Delay, much of Fluxion's best Chain Reaction work was compiled on two Vibrant Forms albums. He went silent for a few years but resurfaced with a somewhat bolder approach on 2009-2010 releases through Resopal and Echocord.
This year has seen Fluxion make his comeback with 2 releases for 2013 on Type Records (a re-issue of Vibrant Forms) and Denmark’s Echocord. We are proud to announce Fluxion will be playing a 90 minute live set for us and will also be joining Deepchord as a core artist for Astral Industries, with a release following in 2014.
G.R.I.T. [Meanwhile, Entropy]
Last year saw Gary Brackley confirm his position as one of the UK’s biggest dub techno talents. Highlights included the massive ‘TTX-E2’ and having ‘Expanse’ remixed by the likes of cv313 and Quantec. Bringing a rare live set to Plan B’s basement, G.R.I.T. is an artist with a truly promising future in the scene.
Support comes from Astral Industries label boss Ario, Crescent/Voyager label boss Alex Crescent and Deep in Dub/Drift Deeper artist Niccolo Machiavelli.
