London's legendary music festival, The Lovebox Weekender, returns for its 7th year and is back, bigger and better than ever with no fewer than EIGHT! venues of eclectic musical programming as well as the usual carnival of anarchic entertainment and performances and top quality food, all of which make Lovebox London's only real festival.
Following last year's sold out extravaganza, 2008 see's headline performances from Oklahoma City's finest The Flaming Lips with their only London show of the year, and the electro-cum-folk Goddess that is Goldfrapp in one of only 2 UK festival appearances in 2008 and, but of course, the return of hosts the mighty Groove Armada with a new and even more improved amazing live show for '08. Throw in The Human League for a retro-electro mastershow and London Town's very own Jack Penate and you get the picture that this will be the biggest line up ever.
Europe's leading new music festival, The Great Escape, host the second stage featuring music from the year's hottest indie acts such as Lightspeed Champion and The Young Knives with a whole lot more to be announced.
The Pentagon War room themed Strangelove will host some of the very best DJ's around, including the likes of The Nextmen, Midnight Juggernauts, The Glimmers, Stanton Warriers, Black Seeds and Damian Lazarus with more headliners to come soon.
Last year's roadblockers Horse Meat Disco return for a two day discothon in 1970's downtown Manhattan in the stunning and expanded NYC Downlow Arena and expect to see Kings of the underground dance scene, Secret Sundaze and Mulletover take a day's turn each in the open air Wild West Stockade.
The solar powered Alfresco Stage is the eco-friendly platform to see the finest new talent including Young Blood Brass Band, Hayseed Dixie and Rachel Unthank.
And with more stages to be announced soon, Lovebox ensures all musical bases from Dance & Electronica to Indie, Latin, Folk, World, Dub, Soul and Reggae are covered off.
As ever, Lovebox continues to focus on delivering more than just the music and is lovingly curated by a team of music and entertainment nuts. Expect to see performers cherry picked from Europe's best performing arts festivals creating all sorts of anarchic mayhem. There will be a street art exhibition and a dedicated family area to amaze the little un's and adults alike (by the way kid's Under 12 go free!!!).
Finally, a love of all things food like remains central to the Lovebox ethos and this year see's the best of Borough Market coming to the party in the form of the Sourced Farmer's Market alongside a whole host of other fabulous foodie stalls.
The renowned compilation series LateNightTales takes over the backstage area of the Lovebox Weekender. Having regularly hosted lovely Sunday Sessions at the Lock Tavern in Camden, the weekend promises more of the same with great acts, a party atmopshere and some very special VIP treatment.
They invite compilers past and present to play records alongside special guests who will be dropping by all weekend to play records you love.
