The dirtybirds are back pdx!!! They have come back to deck the halls of the 2410 for the first time and they brought a special new guest!!! J.Phlip, the newest dirtybird edition, will be joining the decks this time around with Worthy & Christian Martin for the first time in Portland!!
On her first release for dirtybird, Chicago native J.Phlip has created a track that is both intricate and massive. A wall of devastating bass anchors Rumble Rumbles assault, bolstered by an effervescent rhythmic net of popcorn snaps, soda cans popping open, and seductive whispers and giggles at the very edge of audibility. Though she is new to the production game, J.Phlip has been a pivotal part of Chicagos electronic music community for many years. In 2005, she won BPMs Beauty and the Beats competition, leading to a tour with DJ Rap, Collette, and Reid Speed. Soon after her relocation to San Francisco in 2007, J.Phlip secured a residency at San Franciscos infamous Endup nightclub.
Christian Martin and Worthy are at the top of their game. The fact that they are both associated with Dirtybird Records, the San Francisco house label that can do no wrong, should be enough to get any dance music fan excited about this shared bill in Portland. But the two have ties that go beyond the SF tech-house scene. Worthy recently started his own forward-thinking dance label, Anabatic Records, and has releases on Om Records and Matt Tolfrey's Leftroom Records. Christian Martin is one half of the Martin Brothers (with his brother Justin). Christian Martin and Worthy share a knack for making quirky, funky music that appeals to just about anybody on a given dance floor. Combine that with an upward trajectory in the international techno scene and you've got yourself a show that should not be missed.
