SHINE takes over The Limelight on Easter Monday with a double header of underground stars in form of Strahil Velchev aka KiNK and Jackathon head HEIDI. KiNK is a Bulgarian artist that delivers body-rocking house music with the kind of showmanship it deserves, resulting in him being named the Resident Advisor “Number 1 Live Act” for the past two years. Knocking around the globe with a small arsenal of machines, Playing his drum machines like percussion instruments, tapping out keyboard melodies by hand, rocking his shoulders and swinging his hips as he tweaks EQs, he's less "electronic live act" than one-man band.
Alongside him in the main room is the return of Jackathon head and former Radio 1 Dance star HEIDI. She last ventured to Belfast to play alongside Bicep at our monumental 20th Birthday in QUBSU in 2015. Heidi has worked hard over the past decade to make her mark on the new house and techno music generation. You only have to visit her worldwide brand of Jackathon parties or have listened to her BBC Radio 1 show to experience her passion for music and fiery nature. Support in the main room comes from Schmutz, while newcomers Clockwork and Cophin hold down proceedings in the bar.
KiNK has the air of someone who's been practicing in his bedroom for years, and is itching to show you what he's got. Even when he's not out on the road performing, he's back at home performing: Velchev regularly tapes himself improvising on different setups and uploads the footage to YouTube. And check the image on his RA artist page—it's as if he can't get close enough to his machines. Velchev is very clearly a man who's infatuated with his craft.
