There's a lot to get excited about on this lineup, from headliner Actress, who'll be playing Glasgow for the first time in eight years, to city debutants Not Waving, Dollkraut and Vladimir Ivkovic.
Andrew Thomson ~ Huntleys & Palmers
Thanks to everyone who've shown love and support over the past few months and who made the first of our anniversary parties so memorable. We're REALLY hyped to announce the next set of events where we welcome a stellar cast of old and new faces to Glasgow and London..
Continuing the format from a previous Mayday party, we present a night of our favourite live acts and DJ's over both floors at the Art School - with a line up probably as close to a music festival as we've ever done. “The traditional form of music and dance music, using snares and using very familiar sounds, is quite obsolete. I still enjoy it, but that to me is not what music is” – Actress. We share an affinity with this quote, which could be applied to any of our guests and their distinctions ~
Actress will be performing live - for the first time in Glasgow in eight years! His new album has just been announced and it's an absolute beezer, rest assured it is right up there with RIP or Splazsh. You'll hear it soon enough. We've been fortunate to work with him pretty frequently over the years - including hosting the infamous RIP launch party - and couldn't be more chuffed to present his new direction.
Having been lucky to have presented a very early UK appearance and subsequently releasing her outstanding 'Ministry of Silly Talks' on Chapter 1, we're so hyped to FINALLY bring rRoxymore to Glasgow! It's been long overdue and we're sure the wait will be worth it.
Not Waving also makes his Glasgow debut. Funnily enough we put on his first ever live show as part of an Emotional Response party at Plastic People a few years ago and had no idea that he would become one of our favourite producers. We've been hammering his Diagonal releases, Y'Know, Y'Know, Y'Know?
With the exception of the Rubadub crew and a few others, it's unlikely anyone has heard of the mysterious Ukrainian Konakov, but it's only a matter of time before that changes. Watch this space.
Writing a press release has never been this fun! :)
On the DJ'ing front, we welcome another favourite producer from recent years for the first time in Glasgow; Dollkraut. If you've heard his productions before now, you don't need to know much more. If not, think somewhere along the lines of Caribou meets John Carpenter.
Another first in Glasgow, will be the master, Vladimir Ivkovic. We've been big admirers of the Salon des Amateurs resident for several years now and have been delighted to see him become more widely recognised around the world for his unique approach to DJ'ing and impeccable collection.
Ribeka is one of the most interesting DJ's to emerge from the new wave of up and comers in Glasgow - as anyone who has been to So Low will attest. She's also just started a new job A&R'ing for the mighty Mute Records, if that doesn't instil confidence, we don't know what will.
Yer man with the plan, Andrew will be on hand to play some records at some point too.
Thanks to Carhartt Work In Progress.
