Nicky Siano, Peter Croce
Rocksteady Disco and MotorCity Wine would like to welcome the NYC master of Disco and Soul, the former resident and founder of The Gallery as well as Studio 54, and the current DJ of life-affirming music: NICKY SIANO to the Sunday Revival patio party.
Nicky was first introduced to dance floor sounds at David Mancuso's legendary Loft parties. Not too long after, he opened his own variation of the iconic New York City loft tradition, establishing THE GALLERY. With Nicky at the helm, The Gallery was one of the first venues to use reinforced bass horns, and the first venue to use 3 turntables to blend multiple records and sound effects. The Gallery boasted an impressive staff, including a pre-deejaying Frankie Knuckles and Larry Levan.
In addition to his work at The Gallery, Nicky was brought on as a resident DJ at the infamous Studio 54. Ever the forward-thinking-selector, Nicky was fired while playing Kraftwerk's "Trans-Europe Express", instead of playing the venue's preferred pop-radio disco of the time, so the story goes.
After 40+ years, Nicky has yet to play in Detroit. This changes Sunday July 23rd.
