JSL Productions presents RELENTLESS @ Public Life, Shoreditch, Bank Holiday weekend, Saturday 23rd May.
“From greatness comes RELENTLESS”
After a successful first year JSL is moving it’s signature Deep House/Techno event to the clubbers club of choice, Public Life. From its humble beginnings, RELENTLESS is now moving to the next level. Those who have experienced RELENTLESS first hand know that the key reason for its success is the raw, underground vibe created by our DJ’s who drive the night to a frenetic pace with thumping basslines, dark yet rhythmical beats and seemingly endless build ups. Renowned for its underground techno/house events, Public Life and RELENTLESS is a match made in heaven. We welcome guest DJ Francis Benali together with our usual Resident DJ’s, fraine, Dardis, Martin Ash & Andy Baker. If you’re looking for something raw, unpolished and slightly off centre, RELENTLESS is the perfect night for you.
Dardis describes his sound as anything melodically/rhythmically left of centre. His style is minimal house and techno and you’ll hear him playing the likes of DOP, Robert Dietz & tracks from his current rated labels Circus Company & 8Bit.
Ever the perfectionist, Dardis always focuses on getting is mixes bang on key whilst ensuring he adds something to both tracks. He’s a traditionalist playing vinyl only and has been spinning for 10 years. The next step for Dardis is to start producing his own tracks and JSL will bring you exclusive first plays as soon as they’re available. Playing at RELENTLESS gives him the chance to spin his favourite 12’s and in his words “have a good ol’ knees up”.
fraine’s music style is House & Deep House & his labels of the moment are Wolf & Lamb, Rekidz, La Pena & Freak n Chic. He’s been spinning tracks for 10 years now and has recently begun producing his own tracks. “Dirty Feet Dance” and “Sink” are particular favourites.
Fraine’s influences are DJ Craze, DJ Kose, Seth Troxner and our boy Dardis. When he’s on the decks, whether he’s playing vinyl or mixing on the CDJ’s, what’s important for him is keeping things fresh, experimenting with styles, bringing in different sounds and standing out from the rest of the DJ’s out there. His style is eclectic & chaotic at times but always perfect for the night.
We asked Fraine what is it about RELENTLESS that makes you want to play, his answer was simply “the people”
Listen to Fraine in the mix and check out his tracks, we’ll be uploading new mixes every month. Visit his Myspace page at http://www.myspace.com/djfraine
Martin became a RELENTLESS Resident after playing a guest slot at the very first event. After listening to his signature dark, melodic & tough sound, we knew he was a perfect addition to the line-up and he is happy to travel down from Manchester to play for us.
Martin’s style is minimal, techno & tech house. He loves dark, heavy & sometimes pure evil sounds & always takes it to the next level with his sets. When he’s up behind the decks delivering his sets, he’s looking for people to respond to the tracks in the same way he does when he first hears them, as if on cue the crowd always responds.
For him, the key to RELENTLESS is the crowd and the organisers. He says hearing a mix on a big system is “the best feeling on earth”.
Martin has recently won DJ Mag’s Pick n Mix & will hear his mix played out live on Kiss FM. Martin plays a weekly slot on Kick 106 internet radio every Monday night from 22:00pm tune in at http://www.kick106.co.uk and listen to him in the mix. You can hear his own tracks on the JSL website or check out his MySpace page at http://www.myspace.com/martinash
Andy was the last DJ to join the RELENTLESS team but he was a very welcome addition. He travels down from Leeds to play at RELENTLESS as he loves the underground vibe and the crowd.
His style is techno, tech, progressive and breaks. He loves blending old technology with the new, playing vinyl, CDJ’s & EFX unit trying to create something a little different. Andy has the knack of reading the crowd perfectly and playing for them, not to them. He has been producing tracks for some time now, JSL recommends you listen to “Javan Sunset”, “The Mothership” and “Surface to Air REEDIT”. He’s working on an exciting new project Tylo. He has 12 tracks in the making, 2 of which will be previewed live at the next RELENTLESS.
Andy’s influences include Darren Emerson, Guy J, Richie Hawtin, Adam Proll & Sasha. As for his sound, see him at RELENTLESS and listen to his own productions at http://www.myspace.com/DJANDYBAKERUK
Francis’ style is Dubstep, Techno Minimal & Tech House. He produces under the name “Ed Liner” and has several tracks released under Ecology Recordings & Redking Records. Francis has received high praise for both his mixes and his own productions and has won DJ Mag “Pick n Mix” on more than one occasion. His recent release “Throw me a Line” is a heavy track and “Bitch Inside” is quite simply class. Francis plays live on Kick 106 internet radio every Sunday evening from 9:30pm on his “The History of Dance Music Show”. His set will at RELENTLESS will be something special but if you can’t wait until then tune into http://www.kick106.co.uk on Sunday night and visit his MySpace page for a sneak preview of his work to date: http://www.myspace.com/edlucy
