The time is nearly upon us now, Fridays are never gonna be the same again, Kill The Rhythm is finally gonna be unleashed on the unsuspecting Leeds public and what a way to kick things off, with the Fools Gold Records up and coming stars all the way from Canada, JOKERS OF THE SCENE.
These guys have been gradually been carving out their own niche over the past few years with the big room techno sounds alongside heavy fidgeting basslines to give them a sound all of their own. Whatever you want to call it, JOTS' cheeky approach has been lighting up dancefloors worldwide for the past two years, with remixes for underground favorites like DJ Blaqstarr and Muscles and their own Fool's Gold release, the heavily imitated, tempo-switching rap snack "Y'all Know The Name."
Yet on the Jokers' follow-up Acid Bagg EP, the duo has decided to take their sound much, much deeper. "Acidrod" is a refined (though no less ravey) take on their signature club collages, meshing crowd pleasing breakbeats with subtle tech house bleeps and hypnotic synths. "Baggy Bottom Boys" is their most ambitious track to date, a multi-part rave epic that DJs from Diplo to Erol Alkan can't help but play out through every single peak and piano breakdown. And if these two massive originals weren't enough, remixes from Brodinski, Destroy Disco and Canadian dubstep upstart DZ nicely round out the EP.
Stay tuned for their next move...
Rounding off the night will be a veritable showcase of the superb residents we have in store for you here at Kill The Rhythm. If your a Leeds resident you'll no doubt be familiar with the HEADS UP! boys, from their countless parties over the past few years. Stalwarts of the Leeds club scene, they've brought acts such as The Proxy and Felix Cartal to Leeds for their premiere gigs so expect big house and techno sounds from these lot.
YOUTH ATTACK are our next residents, making waves over the past year with massive remixes for Foals, Tiga, Shadow Dancer and soon to be releasing on So Sweet records, the home to Crystal Castles amongst many others. Expect these boys to bring the party home with their big electro vibes.
Last but certainly not least we have the OCELOT boys rounding off the bill... Recently signed to Wall of Sound records here in the UK and Iheartcomix records in their half native USA these 2 gents are preparing to take the world by storm when their debut album drops later this year. They've spent the past few months playing all over the world at SXSW in Texas and the Miami music conference and we're lucky to have them as Kill The Rhythm residents when they're not jetsetting around the world.
Oh and one of the best things about this night, other than the amazing line up? Its 100% FREE entry...
