Damiano von Erckert, Funkamente!
As soon as the silly season ends, we’re back to Passos Manuel with the fourth volume of Midnight Slows. May these prove that blazing hot nights will happen as long as you want them to.
This time around, we bring to Porto on September 29th the German Damiano von Erckert and Funkamente!, who celebrate their very first time in this city.
Damiano von Erckert is one of the voices of a generation of artists who have been neglecting the barriers of the musical genre. Having grown up in Cologne, he took his first steps in the cabin beside his father, also a DJ, which allowed him to acquire a varied and convenient taste across genres: soul, hip hop, funk, afro and disco, just like the personas he admired so much like Willie Hutch, Donny Hathaway, Fela Kuti and Ron Hardy.
He’s not only the father of the ever-essential Ava. Records, but also a self-admitted crowd-pleaser who’s not afraid of spreading happiness and good vibes around him.
Funkamente! is as much the project of Midnight (André Granada) with Bungahigh (Tiago Pinto), as it is the reaction they trigger off whenever they get together and take over our attention and senses. Each one with inimitable and unquantifiable experiences and careers in different parts of the Atlantic, their back-to-back sessions result not only in the shameless sharing of records suitable for debauchery but also in a synergy made of soul, funk, disco, house and whatever they decide to add to the cocktail of madness.
