Matthew Dear (live) + support.
It's been a long time coming, but finally the all-round experimental pop prince, producer and shapeshifter Matthew Dear will be performing under his own name for the first time since touring with the legendary Depeche Mode back in 2013.
Good things do indeed come to those who wait, as he has returned with Modafinil Blues, an effortlessly slick cut that's packed with drifting synth lines and Dear's trademark vocals. Described by NPR as a "patient, pulsing, goth-pop jewel that pulls the best elements of new wave," it builds on the eccentric work he created on 2012's Beams.
This showcase is a rare chance to catch the evocative producer in a unique and intimate setting. It's essential.
