Justin Strauss is one of the city's best and longest-serving DJs. He's presided over the city's dance floors for nearly four decades, all the while creating an impressive body of work as a producer and remixer. In fact, impressive is an understatement: he has well over 200 records under his belt and has worked with Depeche Mode, Sergio Mendez, Tina Turner and Jimmy Cliff. He's a staple of New York's dance culture, and, fittingly, you can hear the city loud and clear in his sets.
Sharing the decks tonight is Kristen Zwicker. If you come to Mister Sunday, you'll probably recognize Kristen as one of the friendly faces that greets you at the door. But to go with her kind demeanor, she has a mean ear for music. She's a taste for warm, funky grooves. The sort that inspire near as much smiling as dancing. Plan on doing plenty of both tonight.
Indoors at Nowadays is a gathering place with an amazing analog soundsystem and wood dance floor. The room was dreamt up and brought into being by the Mister Saturday Night and Mister Sunday guys.
We're on the border of Bushwick and Ridgewood. We throw parties on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and we do immersive listening sessions called Planetarium on Sundays. In mid-January we'll open with food, drinks and good tunes playing on the hi-fi pretty much every day of the year.
Thursdays are free, and Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays have a cover charge. If you're tight on dough but wanna join us, you can buy early bird tickets here on RA, or you can RSVP to get in for free before midnight on Fridays and Saturdays at http://nowadays.nyc/rsvp.
We look forward to seeing you soon.
