Jason Lindner (live)
Planetarium is an immersive experience dedicated to music that’s not for dancing.
We clear the floor between our custom hi-fi speakers, so you can bring pillows, blankets, sleeping bags or anything else like to get comfortable. Lie on the floor, stretch out on the couch, and get lost in music.
To make sure there's plenty of space, we only do a handful of reservations. Advance tickets are a good idea. The session goes from 6pm to 11pm.
At the turntables this evening we have Planetarium resident Josh Dunn, and performing live throughout the evening is composer and pianist Jason Lindner, a New York native and a longtime fixture of the city’s jazz scene. He led the big band at hallowed jazz spot, Smalls, for many years. He's worked with contemporary greats like Avishai Cohen and Claudia Acuña, accompanied David Bowie on his swan song album, Blackstar, and contributed greatly to Mister Saturday Night guy Justin Carter's debut album, The Leaves Fall.
Drinks are available at the bar, and until our kitchen opens in mid-January, you can bring your own food or order it from a local spot. We have all the creature comforts that you might otherwise need inside so you never have to leave the bubble we're creating.
Finally, the night works best when everyone keeps their voice down. It’s okay to chat with friends, but please keep all conversations outside of the main speaker area. When you’re outside of the speakers, just make sure you’re quiet enough that only the person you’re talking to can hear you. Thanks in advance.
We’re looking forward to getting lost in music with you.
Indoors at Nowadays is a gathering place with an amazing analog soundsystem and wood dance floor. The room was dreamt up and brought into being by the Mister Saturday Night and Mister Sunday guys.
We're on the border of Bushwick and Ridgewood. We throw parties on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and we do immersive listening sessions called Planetarium on Sundays. In mid-January we'll open with food, drinks and good tunes playing on the hi-fi pretty much every day of the year.
Thursdays are free, and Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays have a cover charge. If you're tight on dough but wanna join us, you can buy early bird tickets here on RA, or you can RSVP to get in for free before midnight on Fridays and Saturdays at http://nowadays.nyc/rsvp.
We look forward to seeing you soon.
