Glasgow’s most unique outdoor rave space will host techno royalty this summer as Platform 18 confirms its return to West St.
Set to showcase some of the most exciting and respected names across the house and techno spectrum, Platform 18 will bring four of Europe’s finest to Glasgow on Saturday 4th August for a 10-hour open-air event alongside resident Ivan Kutz.
Berghain resident Ben Klock is an artist that needs no introduction. His long-standing relationship with the notorious Berlin techno institution has formed the backdrop to his success, providing an essential platform that has allowed him to become one of the most in-demand artists of the last decade.
Klock will be joined by another Berghain resident. Born and raised in Berlin, Kobosil left his mark on the city with his versatility, equally skilled in creating powerful dancefloor-friendly techno as well as trippy ambient for the early hours.
The third high-profile techno artists on the bill is live act Sebastian Mullaert. Known for his work as one half of Minilogue, Sebastian has bridged the gap between classical and electronica with a truly unique approach to his productions.
Setting the tone for the day will be Platform’s own Ivan Kutz and close friend AlexKid with a very special b2b dub techno set. After remixing the first Platform 18 Records release, Kid is known for his obsession with machines and is known by his peers as one of the pioneers of the Parisian underground culture.
With Platform 18 celebrating its 5th anniversary, co-founder Ivan Kutz has big ambitions to put West St onto the map. “As we celebrate 5 years of Platform 18, it’s time to spice things up and put West St on the map as one of the best open-air street raves in Europe. For this event, we are broadening our musical bracket but keeping to our high standards when it comes to names we book. It’s time to bring some big names to West St and bring that urban street edge back to Glasgow’s electronic music scene.”
2018 is set to be an exciting and groundbreaking year for the Scottish-based event and label. In 2017, Platform 18 launched the record label with tracks from its residents Ivan Kutz, Craig Hamilton and Niz receiving support from minimal leading tastemakers.
