Jorge Velez (live)
Planetarium is an immersive hi-fi listening session.
We clear the floor between our custom speakers, so you can bring pillows, blankets, sleeping bags or anything else you like to get comfortable. Lie on the floor, stretch out on the couch, and get lost in music.
Records are woven together from across the spectrum – new classical, electronic music, pre-war blues, new age, ambient, psychedelic rock, jazz, field recordings and beyond – and there are often live performances to augment the experience. This evening's Planetarium sees Josh Dunn and Justin Carter at the turntables and Jorge Velez performing live throughout. Jorge is a New Jersey–based producer with several projects under his belt (Bim Marx, Bridge & Tunnel Kids, Professor Genius, J Velez, Duermo) who is as adept at crafting warm analog dance tracks as he is cinematic, sci-fi-tinged soundscapes.
Drinks and food are available from the bar and kitchen. We have all the creature comforts that you might otherwise need inside so you never have to leave the bubble we’re creating. The event runs from 6pm to 11pm.
An important note: the night works best when everyone keeps their voice down. When you're inside the speakers, remain silent, and when you're outside of the main speaker area, please make sure you’re quiet enough that only the person you’re talking to can hear you.
We’re looking forward to seeing you there.
Indoors at Nowadays is a gathering place with an amazing analog soundsystem and wood dance floor. The room was dreamt up and brought into being by the Mister Saturday Night and Mister Sunday guys.
We're on the border of Bushwick and Ridgewood, and we've got a full bar and kitchen. We throw parties on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and we do immersive listening sessions called Planetarium on Sundays.
We have a cover charge after 10pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and after 6pm on Sundays. Aside from that, it's free to come hang. If you want to join us on a weekend night, but you're a little tight on dough, you can buy early bird tickets here on RA, or RSVP for reduced or free entry on Fridays and Saturdays at http://nowadays.nyc/rsvp.
