μ-Ziq (Mike Paradinas)
"µ-ZIQ AKA Michael Paradinas is one of the premiere names in the field of electronic music and founder of Planet Mu Records. μ-Ziq released his first records via Richard D. James (aka Aphex Twin) and his label Rephlex Records. Following a string of remixes of Aphex Twin’s work, Mike Paradinas and Richard D. James also released an ambient-techno album together entitled MIKE & RICH in 1996, also known as Expert Knob Twiddlers." RESIDENT ADVISOR
Mike Paradinas has become one of the very few artists working with electronics to produce a recognisable and personalised sound while at the same time mixing far-reaching experimentalism with accessibility through infectious melodies and rhythms.
***First Scottish show***
Stian Gjevik, protégé of Rephlex Records brings out all sorts of off-kilter, pitched down lounge music and pitched up braindance and/or breakbeat flavours analog production. With “gigabytes of unheard music dating back to 2002” all produced without a computer, he’s previously released on labels like WéMè Records, Rephlex, sleepers, cpu, 030303 and bbbbbb. Channeling ambient, electro and hard techno in latest bbbbbb releases, the label describes it as, “a must listen for fans of melodic electro and an exciting move from a label that continues to challenge all our fucking expectations.”
Unpredictable, eclectic and energetic beats from Glasgow's favourite purveyor of obscure records.
Acid and old skool from Something Wicked's resident in chief.
