Zephyr Ann is a New York–based DJ and writer whose work has appeared on Okayplayer and in Top Rank magazine, and The Duchess is a London-born, Brooklyn-based DJ. She hosts a monthly party in Brooklyn, and radio show on waxx.fm, both with the same name: Spiritual | Mental | Physical. Her practice is of a highly emotional and spiritual nature resulting in sets that are unbound by genre — inclusive and energizing, raw and honest. Sonny Daze is a Chicago native who has one of the more endearing DJ origin stores we've heard: as a kid, he would put a speaker in the window of his grandparent's house and play music, yelling the name of each song through a fan. He's come a long way since then and has spent nearly two decades spinning records for top-notch dance floors — with very little yelling and lots of positive vibes.
Indoors at Nowadays is a gathering place with an amazing analog soundsystem and wood dance floor. The room was dreamt up and brought into being by the Mister Saturday Night and Mister Sunday guys.
We're on the border of Bushwick and Ridgewood, and we've got a full bar and kitchen. We throw parties on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and we do immersive listening sessions called Planetarium on Sundays.
We have a cover charge after 10pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and after 6pm on Sundays. Aside from that, it's free to come hang. If you want to join us on a weekend night, but you're a little tight on dough, you can buy early bird tickets here on RA, or RSVP for reduced or free entry on Fridays and Saturdays at http://nowadays.nyc/rsvp.
We look forward to seeing you soon.
