Celebrate The Jazz Cafe's birthday with this excellently curated night from local label Rhythm Section that will be full of soul, funk and, yes, jazz.
Mab'ish (Paris, FR)
For round two of our Jazz Cafe collaboration we proudly usher in our very own 30/70 to deliver the full force of Melbourne soul. With Vels Trio coming from the Total Refreshment Centre stable and acclaimed songwriter Laura Misch in tandem, it’s set to be our best show to date.
Behind their critically acclaimed long player ‘Elevate’, released on our label Rhythm Section INTL, we can’t to hear them on UK soil. With global recognition from the likes of Gilles Peterson, Jamie Cullum and that guy called Q-Tip, it was only a matter of time until they reached the Jazz Cafe stage. Combining broad influences from neo-soul, broken beat and spiritual jazz, prepare to be blown away by Australia’s finest.
Probably London’s best jazz-synth-funk group, delivering tight grooves, exquisite solos and riffs that don’t leave your subconscious for weeks. Vels Trio created one of the EPs of last year (gaining a nomination for Jazz Album of The Year in last year’s Worldwide Awards) and with regular spins in the club and radio by not just our very own Bradley Zero, their return to the Jazz Cafe was inevitable.
Delivering a colourful fusion between styles, Laura Misch represents a new generation of performers that sit sublime between jazz and electronics. A talented singer-songwriter, saxophonist, producer and performer all rolled into one leads the pack when it comes to emotion fuelled electronic soul.
As always Bradley will be on DJ and host duties on the night.
