Beta Librae (live)
Planetarium is an immersive hi-fi listening session.
We clear the floor between our custom speakers, so you can bring pillows, blankets, sleeping bags or anything else you like to get comfortable. Lie on the floor, stretch out on the couch, and get lost in music.
Records are woven together from across the spectrum — new classical, electronic music, pre-war blues, new age, ambient, psychedelic rock, jazz, field recordings and beyond — and there are often live performances to augment the experience. For this edition, we have Josh Dunn and Special Guest DJ at the turntables and Beta Librae performing live. Special Guest DJ is a Berlin-based producer with no shortage of monikers — Uon, Caveman LSD, DJ Paradise, Ryan Fall — who's released lush electronic soundscapes on Anómia, Motion Ward and City2-St. Giga. Beta Librae is Bailey Hoffman, a Kansas native who creates captivating, dreamlike house, ambient and downtempo tracks. She and Special Guest DJ will both be unveiling new music soon: Bailey's debut album, Sanguine Bond, drops on Anthony Naples and Jenny Slattery's Incienso label in May and Special Guest DJ's new record is set for release on Huerco S.'s West Mineral Ltd.
Drinks and food are available from the bar and kitchen. We have all the creature comforts that you might otherwise need inside so you never have to leave the bubble we’re creating. The event runs from 6pm to 11pm.
An important note: the night works best when everyone keeps their voice down. When you're inside the speakers, remain silent, and when you're outside of the main speaker area, please make sure you’re quiet enough that only the person you’re talking to can hear you.
We’re looking forward to seeing you there.
Indoors at Nowadays is a gathering place with an amazing analog soundsystem and wood dance floor. The room was dreamt up and brought into being by the Mister Saturday Night and Mister Sunday guys.
We're on the border of Bushwick and Ridgewood, and we've got a full bar and kitchen. We throw parties on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and we do immersive listening sessions called Planetarium on Sundays.
We have a cover charge after 10pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and after 6pm on Sundays. Aside from that, it's free to come hang. If you want to join us on a weekend night, but you're a little tight on dough, you can buy early bird tickets here on RA, or RSVP for reduced or free entry on Fridays and Saturdays at http://nowadays.nyc/rsvp.
