The latest Bleep43 event is shaping up to be very special, thanks in no small part to the UK debut of synth wizard Jonathan Fitoussi.
We hope you will join us for our second event of 2018. We’re excited to present five artists in a unique and highly atmospheric venue in central London for a day of immersive electronic music.
We are very pleased to announce live performances from Jonathan Fitoussi, Datassette, Plant43, Jo Johnson and Ali Wade. Bringing it all together, Dan Bean will play records to gently guide us through these five special hours away from everyday life, with a custom surround sound system installed by Freerotation’s Bosco Taylor.
Jonathan Fitoussi has established a reputation as an extremely skilled and sensitive synthetist, as captured on a series of releases for Further, Versatile and Pan European. Most recently these include Espaces Timbres, his second collaboration with Clemens Hourriere, following their highly acclaimed Five Steps album. Adept at coaxing warm, emotional textures from some of the most iconic synths of the 70s, we're very pleased that Jonathan has agreed to bring his EMS Synthi and Buchla Music Easel with him for his first ever appearance in London.
Datassette’s extensive and diverse back catalogue includes albums and 12”s on Apollo, Shipwrec, Ai, Echoecho and Rebel Intelligence. A highly talented producer with an assured feel for the intricacies of creating emotional electronic music, his commissions include a multi-channel ambient soundscape for the Norwegian Maritime Museum in Oslo. In between his production work he also curates the much loved Music For Programming series of podcasts, now on its 50th installment.
Plant43 (Emile Facey) is a respected electro producer, with releases on Frustrated Funk, Semantica, CPU, Ai, TRUST, Cultivated Electronics and Shipwrec stretching back to 2005. For this event, he will prepare his debut ambient live set to celebrate the launch of his outstanding new ambient LP, From Deep Streams, on Shipwrec. While we wait to hear the album, his most recent EP, Edge of the Wood on eudemonia, includes a powerful, 12-minute beatless track, giving a flavour of the experience we’re likely to have.
Jo Johnson returns for her first performance of 2018 and her first for Bleep43 in three years. With extremely well received recent shows at the Pickle Factory and Cafe OTO, she also returns to Freerotation in July. New releases from Jo are also on the way so we’re greatly looking forward to hearing her in the unique setting of The Crypt On The Green.
Ali Wade has been making, promoting and writing about electronic music since the 90s. He’s released some stunning music under his own name recently, including his solo album Geomorphology. He’s also known for founding the Frequency Domain label as well as contributing extraordinary live, custom visuals for Surgeon. We’re looking forward to hosting his first ever live set in the UK.
We’ve agreed with the venue that you can bring your own drinks, so please join us in turning on and tuning in for a few hours.
Tea will be available during the event and mats will be provided for your comfort.
As ever, capacity is unfortunately limited and all our events of the last few years have sold out in advance so we recommend booking early.
