Sascha Ring (Apparat), Transforma
Combining live video, physical theatre and music, a new piece by Transforma with music by Sascha Ring (Apparat) reflects the rhythms and physicality of labour.
Step into a many-layered factory floor and find a new perspective in the choreography and repetition of physical work. Situated in this functional stage set up, an ensemble of performers mimic factory work in scenes condensed into stylized vignettes and set to Ring’s score, phasing and looping – responding to and triggering the actions of the factory.
Formed in Berlin in 2001, artist group Transforma produce performances, installations and video work for theatre and dance pieces. With a focus on the material properties of their subjects, they are abstract storytellers. Electronic composer Ring has produced seven albums across his twelve-year career as Apparat, as well as composing music for film. He performed a selection of his soundtracks with live visuals from Transforma at the Barbican in 2015.
