Ordinary Friends [Milo, Dylan, Thomas, Sean & Jacques]
For this year’s summer party we are unbelievably excited, and slightly overwhelmed, to announce as our next guests, San Francisco based DJ collective Honey Soundsystem. Comprised of Jason Kendig, Jackie House and Bézier we are delighted to welcome all three members over to Manchester for the very first time, for 6 hours of dancefloor hedonism.
Formed in San Francisco in 2006, the Honey Soundsystem name has gone from strength to strength over the last 12 years. Heavily influenced by queer, underground dance culture, their Sunday night parties soon gained fame, as they invited guest DJ's such as Honey Dijon, Hunee and Kink, to name but a few. Over the last decade the collective has spawned numerous record labels (Honey Soundsystem Records, Discaire, Dark Entries), played at some of the biggest festivals and clubs across the world (Glastonbury/Panorama/DC-10) and whilst no longer hosting their regular Sunday night revelries, they are still held responsible for throwing some of the most wild and raucous parties San Francisco has to offer.
First making their way on to our radar through their ‘Honey Potcast’ podcast series we have kept a keen eye on their steady rise through underground dance music circles. With each member bringing their own unique spin to the scene, they’ve individually managed to carve out successful careers as solo artists away from their work as a collective. Whether it’s Bezier’s work on his new synth-tinged album, 'Parler Musique', to Jackie House’s bassline driven 'Stydive', right through to Jason Kendig’s bumping 'And I'm (So In Love With You), these boys have talent in abundance. Each artist’s musical catalogue stretches to all ends of the dance music spectrum, so on 20th July expect to be taken to every angle of house, techno, disco and italo.
Spending a large part of the year back home in the US, it is an absolute honour and pleasure to bring the boys over to play for us at the White Hotel. For the majority of the night we’ll be handing the decks over to the Honey Soundsystem crew, but if you can get down to the White Hotel early enough, then come along and familiarise yourselves with the second best DJ collective on the bill….. yours truly, Ordinary Friends.
