SPRKLBB [Kiss & Tell Party]
Tastemaker to tastemakers and musical-icon, Tommie Sunshine is renowned for his reputation of being consistently ahead of the curve while still standing firmly in the zeitgeist. Set apart by his iconoclastic productions, he is regarded as one of today’s most prolific remixers with well over 300 commissioned remixes to date including Katy Perry, Elvis Presley, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Donna Summer, Santana & Fall Out Boy, and his original production career spans collaborations with such diverse artists as Junkie XL, Deorro, Arthur Baker, Felix da Housecat, The Partysquad, Rebecca & Fiona, Midnight Magic, KANDY, Hlafway House, Glowinthedark, Peaches, Kid Sister, Bart B More, Shinichi Osawa, The Disco Fries, James Murphy and many more. Tommie's often spoken about DJ sets have landed him on the Main Stage of Ultra Music Festival three years running, the Hard stage at Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas, Australia's Stereosonic, opening for Afrojack at Pier 94 on NYE, playing alongside Skrillex for his Brooklyn "Takeover" and an East Coast run of dates opening for Zedd. Whether as a producer, DJ, artist, dance music historian or social media provocateur Tommie brings a unique enthusiasm to his craft; one that is fueled by his encyclopedic (if not obsessive) knowledge of underground and pop music spanning the last half-century. This brought him to moderate & sit on panels at Amsterdam Dance Event, South by Southwest, Electronic Music Conference in Sydney Australia, New Music Seminar, Ibiza Music Summit, CMJ, Winter Music Conference and EDMbiz. Sunshine has appeared on Katie Couric's day time talk show Katie, interviewed by Peter Jennings for ABC, appeared on BBC radio & TV, A&E, VH1, NPR and on occasion writes on sites such as Huffington Post known to cause an uproar in his firm stance on many issues most won't dare talk about.
Andy Egelhoff is a DJ and photographer based in Brooklyn who performs as SPRKLBB. As the founding resident and programmer for the Ostbahnhof parties in New York and Los Angeles, which brought top talent such as Terrence Dixon, Mike Servito, Volvox, Mystic Bill, Lady Blacktronika, and many others to affordable queer parties. Egelhoff also programmed for High+Tight, a sex-positive fetish party here in New York, which invited artists such as Aurora Halal, Octo Octa, Turtle Bugg, and Physical Therapy. High+Tight was an affordable nightlife space for the younger NY leather and queer community, and platform for emerging queer talent to play with top names in the industry. In New York SPRKLBB frequently plays in the underground scene, at parties such as The Carry Nation, Holy Mountain, Wrecked, The Spectrum, Lost Soul Enterprises, and Sublimate. SPRKLBB is currently resident of artist Seze Devres’ long running Kiss & Tell Party, where techno DJs are invited to play more eclectic multiple genres sets. Kiss & Tell Party is often held at Bossa Nova Civic Club and was currently hosted at Elsewhere, for a night alongside Mike Huckaby. Egelhoff has been photographing my underground dance music and rave culture throughout the United States and Europe for the last decade. His work has been featured in numerous magazines including VICE, Hello Mr, GUP, NY Magazine, and Vogue, and I've mounted exhibitions in NYC, Los Angeles, Paris, Belfast, and the Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg, Russia.
Veblen Defect is the newly forged name for a long standing feeling. Veblen Defect has lived under other monikers both as a sound selector and gatekeeper of the Brooklyn underground, as well as a member of the Tribes NY collective, and looks to their current state as one of ultimate expressive freedom. A Brooklyn native, Sophia has been entranced by the world of underground dance music since an age far too young to state for legal purposes. Years later, Sophia is now well-regarded both as a sound selector and gatekeeper of the Brooklyn underground, as well as a member of the Tribes NY collective. Focusing on her love of the most bizarre, evocative and titillating house and techno she can get her hands on, she has become a local favorite at parties and venues such as Rinsed, Good Room, Bushwick A/V Afterhours, & TBA Brooklyn She previously ran Sample Sessions, a biweekly show on Newtown Radio.
Seze Devres, a Brooklyn a photographer, has been curating promoting and documenting nightlife since the 90s. While attending Bard College she headed the entertainment committee, where she booked many notable bands like Stereolab. In 2005 Kiss & Tell she began at Trash Bar in Williamsburg, Brooklyn as a knitting circle for like minded music obsessed ladies. Kiss & Tell eventually moved to the very feminine wallpaper-lined Rose Bar. In the new space Kiss & Tell blossomed into a debauchery filled Wednesday night monthly, where Seze invited her favorite DJs to play open format dance music sets. Guests attended in elaborate costumes photographed in front of wacky themed decorations, often created with much group effort, thus inspiring a wild and wonderful canvas for Seze to document with her camera. Having spent ten years hosting and photographing many of the artists who passed through town to play The Bunker New York, many visiting DJs would play a second secret set at Kiss & Tell while passing through town. Thus inspired a tradition of hosting well known techno DJs eager to play open format sets, often filled with the all the records that inspired their earliest love of music. This eventually led to her being invited to curate her party in tandem with notable festivals such as Unsound in Poland and Communikey in Colorado. On the rare times Seze DJs she taps in to her Kiss & Tell ethos to carefully craft sets full of indie, disco, italo, and synthpop for Ace Hotel in NY and LA. Kiss & Tell Party currently has a residency at Bossa Nova Civic Club. Seze currently helps promote events at Output, Elsewhere and Good Room.
