LCD Soundsystem's Nancy Whang will handle the soundtrack to your lovely day off at this rooftop party presented by Good Room.
Good Room Presents:
at Dobbin St
Nancy Whang (DFA, LCD Soundsystem) - (dj set)
Love Tempo (Justin Strauss + Billy Caldwell)
Disco and fireworks as we celebrate July 4th at Good Roof at Dobbin St. Anyone who came to the Good Roof party series last year knows just how perfect the Dobbin St rooftop is to party. With uninterrupted views of the Manhattan skyline, we can't imagine a better place to watch NYC's biggest firework display for 2018. With the pyrotechnics starting at 9.25pm and lasting for about 30 minutes, we've lined up the perfect soundtrack to go with it.
Our special July 4th Good Roof will feature LCD Soundsystem's Nancy Whang doing a DJ set. Nancy is among the few who can lay claim to being a key figure in the heady early days of the rise of DFA Records and has stayed firmly rooted in the eclecticism of the defining style of DFA. Her DJ sets have an emphasis on fun, an echoing of the glory days of the NYC scene of the 80's in which disco, proto-house, postpunk, electro, and Latin influences all conspire to keep things interesting and high energy on the dancefloor.
Our July 4th disco oasis will also feature Good Room residents Justin Strauss & Billy Caldwell. Their monthly party Love Tempo has become a staple at Good Room, with the legends of the scene playing anything from Balearic, house and acid to cosmic, new wave, disco and whatever else they pull out of their record bags. Justin has spent more than three decades at the forefront of the NYC dance scene, starting as a DJ at New York’s legendary Mudd Club, he has spun his way through The Ritz, Limelight, Area, Tunnel and more. Billy Caldwell made his name at Manchester clubs HOME, Hacienda & Paradise Factory.
The party starts at 5pm and we'll keep partying until we're discoed out. We'll have a full bar running on the rooftop and food on the day by Burger Supreme. Dobbin St is a renovated factory located a few blocks from Good Room. The roof will be turned into a tropical paradise by Rye Workshop. We'll have reinforced sound on the roof by Subbass.
