JP has been collecting records since the mid-'90s. Strongly influenced by the party ethics and musical approach of David Mancuso, he has hosted The Mancusian Circus show on Bondi Beach Radio for over four years, and is now co-hosting The World Local with Walking Fish aka Alex Barry, also on Bondi Beach Radio. He also co-hosts the Classic Album Sundays Sydney series, the Australian chapter of the world’s most popular record club founded by Lucky Cloud's Colleen “Cosmo” Murphy. He loves dancing, cooking, Jim Jarmusch and camels.
Jim has been spinning underground dance music for 25 years. His career was forged on New York’s house scene in the 1990s, where he was a founding member of the FSR crew – the Funky Soul Rebels – known for their legendary loft parties. During those years he worked and collaborated with many prominent DJs including Colleen “Cosmo” Murphy, Nickodemus, Holmar Filipsson, Ulysses, Toshio Matsura, Jenifa Mayanja and David Mancuso himself. Now based in Sydney, Jim is a resident of Deep House Australia and has played around town for Soul of Sydney, Foxlife, S*A*S*H*, Funkdafied, Behind the Green Door, Cantaloop and others. Jim works as a freelance journalist, and has contributed to inthemix, The Guardian, SBS, Red Bull Music, Junkee and Beatport; and co-hosts Classic Album Sundays Sydney. He's also a full-time dad, a gardener and a revolutionary socialist.
