Originally the singer of a psychedelic rock band, Australian DJ HAAi has forged a path in the underground electronic music scene through her vibrant sets and all-encompassing mixes, although she is perhaps best known as the curator of Saturdays at London’s Phonox for going on two years now. This residency has allowed her to develop her sound and signature style which she now shares with crowds the world over in sets for gigs like Boiler Room, Lost & Found, DGTL, and Parklife. For her productions she calls on heavily percussive and primal records “that bring out strangely strong reactions in me”, she likes her music to be “bassy, textured and percussive”. These productions are put out on her label Coconut Beats which is also the name of her party series, hosting the likes of Gilles Peterson, DJ Nobu as well as Glasgow’s own Auntie Flo. This month saw her second release on Coconut Beats: a five-track record including guest spots from Fay Milton (of UK band Savages) and Taigen Kawabe (of Japan's Bo Ningen). She is showing no signs of slowing down and you can expect to see a lot more of her face. Well versed in house, techno, afro, acid and disco, as well as more unusual worldly sounds so expect a good night, you’re in safe hands.
