Taking place from 28 to 30 September, the Lake of Stars festival is justly global, truly Malawian, showcasing a diverse mix of traditional and new African music, art, poetry, fashion, markets and food. Where else can you see over 70 live acts from Africa and Europe playing everything from indie to reggae, from kwaito to dubstep in a location that Wanderlust travel magazine hails as one of the Top Ten emerging travel destinations in the world.
After a year’s break Lake of Stars returns to Malawi’s central region for the 15th anniversary celebrations. The three day arts extravaganza will take place at the Kabumba Hotel resort, an exciting new location in Leopard Bay, Lifuwa Salima. Located at the foot of Senga Hills, the stunning new site is set on a wide expanse of rolling golden sands backed by a lush wooded hillside.
Lake of Stars is no stranger to some of the world’s greatest live acts, with performances from Noisettes, Maccabees, Basement Jaxx’s Felix B, Groove Armada’s Andy Cato, Seth Lakeman, Oliver Mtukudzi, Ali Keita, Annie Mac, Nihal, Ali B, Ross Allen, Tayo, Scratch Perverts, Mary Ann Hobbs, MistaJam, Get Cape Wear Cape Fly, Tinashe, Afrikan Boy, Goldfish, Oskido, Eddy Temple Morris, Goldierocks and DJ Yoda.
